Long Time No Post Smokey Eye

Hello!!

I have been MIA for a but, life just gets crazy sometimes!  I'm planning my little girl's 3rd birthday- it amazes me how time has flown!  I'm also doing a few projects around the house, including painting my dining room.  My dining room has been a plain white box since buying my house a year ago, and I'm trying to bring it to life a bit.  I repainted the existing chandeliers to modernize them, and added an accent wall of wallpaper.  Maybe I will post some before and afters soon, just working on painting the trim and finishing up some lose ends!  Most of the work happens when the LO goes to sleep at night.

Today's look uses an old favorite of mine from Aromaleigh- Myrtha.  I'm fairly certain I have posted a look using this before, but here it is again anyway :)

Aromaleigh Vivid Green Eye- Khepir

I was feeling like I needed something brighter than I've been wearing lately so I opted for this vivid green, yet smokey eye look today.  I purchased a few samples from Aromaleigh recently, and while I am quite pleased with all of them- Khepir form the Ancient Magick collection was the one that stole my heart from the beginning.  It is a bright, mid tone green which leans quite warm with its strong golden sheen.  It also has a quite perceptible green glitter to it, which is lovely.  When I first swatched it, I thought of MAC's Gorgeous Gold and couldn't help but think that Khepir is its opposite.  Gorgeous Gold is a gold with a strong green interference and Khepir is green with a strong golden shift.  It is a vivid, warm and lush shade and I think I might need to order a full size of this one soon.

Aromaleigh Rabid.Feral.Mad. Plum Smokey Eye

Today's look of the day features a hodgepodge of different shadows from various palettes and companies, but the true star of the show is Aromaleigh's Rabid.Feral.Mad from the limited edition Ever in your Favor collection inspired by the Hunger Games.  This shadow is so gorgeous and is described on Aromaleigh's website as (District Color) A strong eggplant purple with fuchsia undertones and brilliant color-shifting rose/copper sparks.  I describe it as gorgeous, and I think it is the perfect shade to make green eyes pop.

Purple and Taupe- Wet n' Wild Silent Treatment and Sleek

This look uses the same method of application as my previous green and gold look (darken both the inner and outer corners of lid), just with different colors.  I recently purchased the WnW Silent Treatment trio and have been using the taupe from it quite a bit- smudging it on my lid and popping some darker neutrals in the crease for a quick but pretty everyday work look.  This taupe shade is a great dupe for Chanel Fauve- almost spot on copy cat!  It can be used in looks in place of Mac's Satin Taupe- though it is a bit lighter.  The purple that I used from the Sleek Ultra Matte Palette is a great dupe for the famous  MakeUp Forever #92.  This Sleek shadow is a highly pigmented matte purple, and like its MUFE counterpart, it is a bit difficult to blend.  When using either of these colors for crease work, I suggest applying a matte highlighting shade on your brow bone first to help these matte purples blend.

MAC Club Eyeshadow

MAC Club is a shadow that is just so gorgeous in the pan, but many find it hard to work with so it often goes unused. MAC describes it as satin shade in a red brown with green pearl.  Perhaps its the ruddiness that makes it a bit difficult- but I just love it smudged atop a dark base.  Club makes the most interesting smoky eye, and this look features it on the lid blended out with some warm midtone matte browns and some matte black to deepen the look a bit.  Though Club on its own is one of those shades that makes for a complex one shadow look- blend out some black kohl liner on your lid and smudge Club on top- as you buff and blend out the edges the color buffs out to a pretty red brown and appears as if you applied a couple of shades! Love it.

I think some false lashes would make this look sexier!  Maybe next time.

MUG Cosmopolitan

Hello!

I recently purchased Makeup Geek Cosmopolitan eyeshadow, along with a few other of the newer shades.  It is a lovely peachy golden pink, comparable to MAC's expensive pink.  Like many of MUG's shadows, it is richly pigmented and lovely to work with.  I feel that Cosmopolitan is a bit brighter and more pink than it's MAC counterpart, so I do not regret having both in my collection.  I am using a brand new camera, the first DSLR I have ever owned and am still in the learning process.  This look uses Makeup Geek and Wet n' Wild shadows.

Fyrinnae Serendipity

I recently purchased several shadows from Fyrinnae, and while I love them all, the one that stood out to me the most is the one that was sent as a free sample. This shadow is called Serendipity and is described on their site as follows:  (Formerly "Te Amo") This shade is a glowing iridescent copper highlight, almost ghostly, despite how photos make it appear. A sticky base makes more color come though, but it works well and "glows" over regular primers. Depth of hue may appear to vary slightly due to translucent dark base.  

I absolutely love it! It is warm, and glowy and so different than any other shadow I own.  It has such a beautiful coppery aura to it while still being a very work appropriate neutral.  I paired it with some warm, matte browns for a sultry and smoky eye.  This is day 2 in a row that I sported this look!

The weather is just glorious, I have the day off.... it doesn't get better than this!   Today's look involves some taupe-y mauve-y shades and a bit of glitter!

MUG Appletini

Hello All!


Two green looks in a row!   Makeup Geek's Appletini is a lovely shade, and like all of the shadows I've tried from MUG, it is both creamy and highly pigmented.   In fact, today's look uses all MUG shadows, I was inspired to bring out my MUG palette because I ordered a few more shadows this weekend- excited to try them out!!
