Easy look with Naked 2 Palette

What a crazy week it has been, working crazy long hours all while getting ready for Christmas.  Our christmas was just fantastic, including lots of food and wine and way too many gifts for my little one.  This is the first christmas that she was actually old enough to grasp the concept of Christmas so we had a blast.  Chloe now thinks that every morning when she wakes up, there will be gifts to open lol.  She has also gotten into the giving spirit, she keeps wrapping random things up in tissues and giving them to every one around.  It is just adorable.

Today's look is a quickie cool toned semi smokey eye using only the Naked 2 palette, which admittedly is my least favorite of the 3.  Part of my distaste for the palette has to come from the fact that more than half of the shadows have come loose from the palette and come flying out whenever I open it :(... I'm sure some crazy glue would fix it.  Anyway,  I figure if I use it a bit, I might grow to like it more.

Aromaleigh Password Protected

Here is my look for today, a warm mauvey semi smokey eye which i find quite pretty.  The copper shift in this shadow is just amazing.  Today I used my Fyrinnae finishing powder for the first time, first impressions are good.  It sets my foundation (though this cover girl stuff doesn't really need setting on my normal/dry skin) without looking chalky or obvious and imparts a soft focus, vaguely golden glow.  How pretty!

Fyrinnae Gender Bent Meets the Urban Decay Nakeds

Today's look incorporates a color combo I just love, teal and brown.  Teal on its own can be a somewhat intimidating color for some, but when paired with brown it is grounded and becomes a bit more wearable.

Some interesting things going on for me today:

  • Just had my chimney swept and it was pretty cool to watch.  My new kitty Hannah adores sitting by the fire and even though the chimney sweep guy had this really loud machine going- she stayed next to him the whole time.  I guess she was making sure he didn't mess with her favorite spot.
  • I have the day off today and the house to myself for the first time in I can't even remember.  My 2 year old is at 'school' and mommy is home relaxing.
  • I'm actually excited to clean the house today, and of course play with my makeup. :)
  • I used the manual setting on my camera, ISO at 200, 1/50 and lowered the flash compensation by a notch.  Generally I use ISO 100 and don't mess with the flash compensation.  I think the shadow colors look pretty true to life though my hair and skin color look a bit warmer than they should.

Naked 3 Palette LOTD- Cat Eye

Hello!

I was very happy with the way this look turned out, but not thrilled with how the photos came out.  My natural light photos come out so washed out, so I use flash and adjust the ISO and shutter speed to compensate- but everything comes out warmer than it should.  One day I shall figure it out. This look is a bit more of a dramatic eye, using only shades from Naked 3.

Plummy Pink LOTD- Aromaleigh Brainy is the New Sexy

More fun with Aromaleigh :)  I wanted to use Brainy is the New Sexy form the Sherlock inspired series, described by Aromaleigh as an english rose frost with golden highlights and tiny copper shimmers.  It is just such a pretty shade, as such I wanted to keep the look softer and really play up the pink girliness of it all.  Amazingly, I used no matte crease shades today and am still loving the look like crazy.

Aqua and Purple LOTD- Aromaleigh Recreational Scolding

I am having so much fun with my new Aromaleigh samples!  After seeing the gorgeous swatches of the Sherlock inspired shadows on Facebook, I had to snatch up a few.  I have not done such a colorful look in a long while, and find myself reaching for more neutral hues more often than not.  Recreational Scolding inspired me to break the cycle of neutrals and go brighter for the day- and yes, I wore this to work!

As decribed by Aromaleigh, Recreational Scolding:A vibrant medium grape purple with subtle aqua iridescence.

So pretty!

A Workday Look With Aromaleigh and Coastal Scents Hot Pots

Hello

Here is a look I would typically wear on a work day. Though it uses quite a bit of shadows, it is quick to throw together as it doesn't require precision.  Using multiple matte browns from light to dark basically does the blending for you.  I have a ton of matte brown Coastal Scents Hot Pots in a palette which makes looks like these a breeze.  I love pairing mattes in the crease with a shimmery, glittery lid shade for a neutral look that is both work appropriate yet still not boring.

Face
Cover Girl Stay Fabulous Foundation Shade 815
NYX Taupe Blush to contour
FYRINNAE Nordic Angel on cheeks
NYX Smokey Look gloss on lips

Eyes
Urban Decay Primer Potion Eden to prime lids
Coastal Scents Hot Pots:
Oatmeal Tan (light peachy warm brown) applied with fluffy crease brush to crease and buffed up towards brow, quite blown out
Harvest Brown (midtone warm brown) applied with denser crease brush, less blown out to deepen crease
Choclatier (dark warm brown) with dense crease brush, focused on outer V and crease and lower lashline
Aromaleigh Everlasting Credit (beigey champagne gold with lots of colorful glitter) patted on lid with dampened shader brush
Makeup Geek Gel Liner on upper lashline (this gel liner applies like a dream but never fails to transfer on me by midday, I need to remember to wear this only on days I have a darker eyeshadow look on)

Fyrinnae Fireside Interlude LOTD- Warm Copper

I recently ordered several samples of the new Fyrinnae winter 2013 eyeshadows.  They are, as expected, beautiful and amazing quality.  One of these shadows is Fireside Interlude, described by Fyrinnae as:

Molten bright copper? Metallic gold on red? You decide. It is a firey, warm blend of hues with a metallic finish, and will appear differently depending on how it's applied, much like Mephisto. Great for "sunset" looks.

I have been wanting a gorgeous coppery shade, and this fits the bill.  It is truly a firey shade with strong orange tones which served to make my green eyes lean almost blue.  I went a little apeshit on my brows here, don't know what happened there.

Face
Revlon Colorstay Whipped Buff/Sand Beige mixed
MAC MSF Natural dusted lightly to set foundation
MAC ProLongwear Concealer NW20 under eyes

Fyrinnae Automatic Toaster in outer V blended into crase a bit, and lower lashline (this seriuosly might be my new favorite brown)

Naked 3 Palette LOTD

Here is another look using my new Naked 3 palette, I do like it quite a bit but I still think the original Naked is my favorite!  I've been doing quite a few looks with the Naked 3, yet when I photograph the colors just don't represent properly.  I'm working on fiddling with camera settings to finally get this right!
