At home beauty day and an ultra cheap deep conditioner!

Ahhhhhh, a day off with nothing on the agenda.  Right now it is just the dogs and I lounging on the couch.  I've decided to take this day to relax and pamper myself a bit.  Right now, I have a great deep conditioning pack in my hair.  I have used this conditoner a couple of times already and really like the results.  It is an Olive Oil conditioning pack, available at walmart and drug stores and can be found in the ethnic hair section.  It costs just a little over a dollar for the pack, and I can easily get 2 uses out of it.  Here is a pic:

It smells like citrus fruits and is very thick and creamy.  What I do is wet my hair squeeze out extra moisture, then apply a generous amount of this stuff and comb it through with my fingers.  I put on a shower cap and let it sit for 45 to an hour and rinse really well.  Sometimes, I like to put this on and sit in the sauna over at my parent's house to really let the heat work it in.  Here is a pic of me, with ACK! no makeup, letting the product do it's magic.  He he, sorry for the silly face!  The dogs are laughing at me too.

I find that my hair looks a bit greasy afterwards, so I generally do this on a day off when I have nothing else to do.  After a shampooing the next day, my hair looks shiney and soft.... its moisturized and i have less flyaway hairs and more manageability.

So what is next on the agenda??  I wish I had some kind of facial masque to apply.  My nails do need serious attention, and later on perhaps some makeup fun!  I have 2 packages en route to me, hopefully they'll come today and I can play!

What do you all use for deep conditioning?

  1. I have some Jessicurl conditioner that I use for deep conditioning, but I've been slacking on doing deep conditioning, to be honest.

  2. So have I! I'm also in desperate need for a trim so that's probably what motivated me to do this today. Hoping this will help keep my hair in check till I get a chance to visit Motomi, my stylist.

  3. First : thanks so much for suscribing to my blog ;-)

Second : I am trying something new for my hair : the NO POO method (you basically wash your hair with conditionner free of silicone...) and OH MY can I see the difference !!!! I must admit I am not a religiously follower since once a week , I shampoo with a basic Neutrogena shampoo but all the rest of the time I just condition (you find the same ingredients in conditioner than in shampoo, just in reduced amount...)...4 weeks now and the result is obvious on the lenghs : Yééééé

  4. Hi MUA!! So shampoo once week, other days use conditioner for washing? Maybe I should try this... its the shampoo that really strips the hair after all. :)

  5. I use straight up olive oil or coconut oil (sooo much cheaper!) in my hair. I only wash my hair once or twice a week and no more than that. I don't even bother to get it wet on the days that I don't wash. Just brush and go! :-) I could use a shower cap for the deep oil conditioning tho...I just put my hair in a big bun and walk around with greasy lookin' hair. Wooo!

  6. Since I started coloring my hair brunette in October, I use the tube of conditioner that comes with my box of Natural Instints. I get about 4 weeks worth of once-a-week deep conditioning from it. I'm not sure if I really "love" it but I do keep using it. I'm going to pick up some of your hair mask and give it a try.

  7. I wish I could get away with washing less often, I wash every other day. My hair is just too fine and starts looking really limp and icky.
